A South Lafourche High School sophomore has picked up her first official scholarship offer – from the college just down the road.

South Lafourche girls’ basketball sophomore sensation Nyla Lyons received an official offer from Nicholls State University today – the first official scholarship offer she has received.

Lyons is a 5-foot, 10-inch forward. She started as an 8th grader for a Houma Christian team that made the Division III Select Quarterfinals, then transferred to South Lafourche and was an immediate impact player as a freshman, landing both All-District and All-Region honors.

Lyons has a relentless motor and a rapidly developing game. She is skilled in the paint, but is developing a mid-range game and has also been working on her handles.

In addition to receiving collegiate interest in basketball, there’s a chance that Lyons gets interest on the volleyball court. She is a standout outside hitter for the Lady Tarpons there as well.
