Darion Brown’s first game as Nicholls head coach turned into a scoring party. The Colonels routed NAIA North American 110-56 on Kids’ Day Monday morning at Stopher Gym.

Nicholls actually fell behind 4-0 before Sheridan Sharp scored the first points of the season. Jordan Matthews and AJ Dent answered from deep to make it 14-9, and a four-point play by Doyel Cockrill III pushed the lead to 22-11. The Colonels never led by fewer than 10 the rest of the way and took a 53-37 lead into the break.

The second half was all Nicholls. Christian Winborne pushed the lead to 20 a minute in, Arop Arop strung together three straight dunks, and Junior Sileu’s layup with 4:41 left put the Colonels over 100.
