Lutcher is headed to the Cajundome. The sixth-seeded Bulldogs beat No. 11 Westlake 3-1 on Thursday night at home in the Division III regional round of the LHSAA volleyball playoffs.
Set scores were 25-14, 18-25, 25-22, 25-13. Lutcher controlled the opener, but Westlake answered by taking the second set to even the match. The third set was the turning point: the Bulldogs held on 25-22 to retake the lead, then pulled away in the fourth to finish it off.
The win followed Lutcher’s 3-0 sweep of De La Salle in the bi-district round earlier in the week.
Lutcher will face No. 3 Iota in the Division III quarterfinals on Thursday, Nov. 12. The state tournament runs Nov. 12-14 at the Cajundome in Lafayette. Iota reached the quarterfinals with a regional sweep of Iowa. By-U Sports will follow the Bulldogs in Lafayette.
