Boy, that LSU offense is fun to watch.
The Tigers dominated Cupcake State – I mean Georgia State – on Saturday, scoring a 56-14 win.
It was a win that the Tigers expected to get, and they did it in style offensively, scoring at will throughout the game and playing better defense late after a rough start.

5 TAKES AS LSU ROLLS PAST GEORGIA STATE
- The best player doing ‘best player things’ – Let’s not sugarcoat it. LSU went out of their way to get Jayden Daniels some stats tonight. He stayed in probably 1-2 drives longer than he otherwise would have and the red zone play calling was solely designed to get Daniels touchdowns. Screw it. YOLO. LSU paid Cupcake State more than $1M to come to Baton Rouge to get their asses kicked. You can’t complain about sportsmanship when you got a 7-figure check. Daniels is having a once in a lifetime season. He has missed two whole second halves this season. I’m glad the Tigers let him play it out in his final-ever night game in Tiger Stadium. Jayden Daniels is the Heisman Trophy winner. Go look at Bo Nix’s SEC stats. To compare Daniels to Nix is a joke.
- I wish Kyren had 1 more ride – I wish Kyren Lacy had one more season in Baton Rouge. Lacy, a Thibodaux native, has come around big in the back-half of this season, and I really think that if he had one more collegiate season, he would have a Brian Thomas-like impact for the LSU offense. But c’est la vie! He’s had one heck of a back-end to the season and he’s made our entire area proud!
- Defense … ugh – The LSU defense … is not very good. The Tigers got carved up early, then played a little better later on and got some stops. But this is an offense that doesn’t score on the top Sun Belt schools. It shouldn’t be an offense getting near 400 yards on LSU in Death Valley. The Tigers need new pieces at all 3 layers of the defense.
- Jayden is Jayden … don’t forget Malik – The unbelievable season that Jayden Daniels is having this season is somewhat overshadowing the amazing year that Malik Nabers has had, and that’s a little bit of a shame. Nabers has 1,400+ yards in 11 games, and has 100+ yard games in 8 out of LSU’s past 9 games. The NFL team who gets that kid is getting a stud.
- I have no clue who Javen Nicholas is, but he’s now my friend – After 2-straight seasons of never even attempting to return a punt due to muffed attempts, LSU returned 2 on Saturday with Javen Nicholas taking 2 attempts forward for 27 yards. Before Saturday, I had never even heard that kid’s name before, and truthfully, he wasn’t even the primary returner on either punt. But he caught them, ran confidently and that’s better than anything we’ve seen out of that position.
- We got sold a bill of goods from Tuscaloosa – Let’s be real. LSU could do whatever it wanted to do on Saturday in the passing game against a Georgia State defense that was absolute Swiss cheese in the secondary. But the one receiver who couldn’t get going was Alabama transfer Aaron Anderson who … I’m beginning to believe just isn’t very good. This was not a night to be a 0 catches, 0 yards guy. 3 LSU players were north of 100. Is it too much to ask to get 3-4 grabs for 50-60 yards? Kid has 12 grabs for 59 yards this season. The staff has tried and tried and tried again. The kid just isn’t athletic enough – at least not yet – to get into space and be explosive like he was in high school.
- I hate Texas A&M – That is all. Nothing else needs to be said.
- Remember when dudes wanted Nuss to start over Daniels and said it with a straight face? – Man, that was such a long time ago. Oh wait, nah, it wasn’t. 🙂
